Illness and Infection Control Policy

Introduction
The health, safety and wellbeing of all clients, patients families, staff and visitors is of paramount importance at The Adults’ Wellness Centre and The Children’s Wellness Centre.
To maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment, we ask that clients do not attend appointments if they are experiencing, or are suspected to be experiencing, a contagious or potentially contagious illness or infection.

Practitioner Illness
If a Clinical Practitioner is unwell and unable to work, appointments may need to be cancelled or postponed. Where a session has been paid for in advance, clients will be offered either:
• An alternative appointment; or
• A full refund.

Client Illness and Cancellation Policy
The Clinic operates a strict 48-hour cancellation policy, which also applies to cancellations due to illness.
Whilst we understand that illness can arise unexpectedly, cancellation charges may still apply where insufficient notice is given. This policy helps ensure the sustainability of our services and enables appointment times to be offered to other clients where possible.

Attendance During Illness
To protect vulnerable clients, staff and visitors, we ask that no child, young person or adult attends The Clinic if they are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness, including but not limited to:
• Fever or high temperature
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Acute respiratory symptoms
• Covid-19 or other infectious conditions

Staff and Clinical Practitioners are expected to follow the same guidance and should not attend work when they are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness.

Becoming Unwell During a Session
If a client becomes unwell during a session, the Clinical Practitioner or Centre Co-ordinator/Practice Manager will ensure that the individual is appropriately supported and made as comfortable as possible.
For children and young people attending without their parent or carer present, a parent, carer or emergency contact will be contacted and asked to collect them if appropriate.
Medical advice will be sought where necessary, and emergency services will be contacted if urgent medical attention is required.

Health Information
Clients, or parents and carers acting on behalf of children and young people, are responsible for ensuring that their Clinical Practitioner is kept informed of any relevant changes to health or medical circumstances.
This includes, but is not limited to:
• Medical conditions or diagnoses
• Allergies
• Medications
• Physical health needs
• Changes to medical history
• Any other factors that may affect participation in therapy, assessment or intervention

Keeping this information up to date helps us provide safe, effective and person-centred care.

Commitment to Infection Prevention
The Clinic is committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection prevention. We appreciate the cooperation of clients, patients, parents, carers and staff in helping us provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
