Nutritional Therapy

Chiswick, West London

Our in-house Paediatric Doctor runs Nutritional Consultations from our therapy room in the Children’s Wellness Centre every Tuesday.

Dr Venita Patel is fully qualified Nutritional Therapist, providing consultations tailored to the health and wellbeing needs of children and families. She has been running her own ‘Health Via Nutrition’ clinics for the past few years.
Venita is also an experienced medical doctor working in the NHS, and there she specialises in child health, particularly growth and development. Venita takes a holistic approach to her patients, and will look for the underlying causes of health issues and symptoms. She will then address these with a combination of nutrition and dietary support, with appropriate supplement and lifestyle recommendations.

Nutritional Therapy Consultation

The initial consultation involves a detailed assessment of all aspects that contribute to a child’s health and wellbeing status. These include health history, prenatal and birth history, child development (including learning, behaviour and sleep), dietary history and family history. A ‘Food diary’ analysis is also done.

In addition, it may be useful to arrange further blood testing or nutritional status (Functional Medicine) tests as part of this assessment.

With all the information, a bespoke ‘Health Plan’ is created, which features the following:
• Dietary/Nutrition advice
• Nutritional supplement recommendations
• Lifestyle advice (e.g around sleep and behaviour)
• Optional suggestions of other therapies

Pregnancy and Postnatal Nutritional Advice

Venita also offers specialised consultations for pregnancy nutrition, to optimise the health of the mother and support development of the baby. Many pregnancy symptoms can also be reduced or supported with natural dietary and supplement options. Postnatal support is also incredibly important, to nourish the mother and help recover from the pregnancy and birthing process, as well as ensure the best start for the newborn. Dr Patel can advise on all aspects of postnatal care and nutrition for both the new mother and her baby. Prenatal, fertility and general health nutrition consultations are also offered, to maximise your chance of a healthy pregnancy. Particular issues such endometriosis, PCOS and fibroids, are conditions often affecting fertility, yet can be managed with dietary changes, lifestyle interventions and specific nutrients.
